Community Pediatric Physicians Receives Honor for Child Immunization Success
October 23, 2006 -- For the fourth consecutive year, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center's Community Pediatric Physicians has received recognition from the Indiana Department of Health for helping area children obtain proper vaccinations.
The Physicians group scored better than 95 percent on the annual Vaccines for Children (VFC) audit. To receive this honor, immunization providers must have more than 95 percent of area children, age 3 and under, up-to-date and on time with their vaccinations.
"To receive a 95 percent score on the VFC audit shows how dedicated our Physicians and staff are to serving the whole community without differentiating on economical status," said Sandra Rios, LPN. "This award is very difficult to get, since it take a combination of the doctors' efforts to get all children immunized and the willingness of parents and children to receive them."
The VFC program offers free vaccines to children on Medicaid or without insurance. Offering VFC at the Community Pediatric Physicians office also saves many families a trip to the Health Department.
"I am very proud of the staff here at Community Pediatrics for achieving this award once again this year," said Jo Iden, Practice Manager of Community Pediatrics. "They take pride in taking care of the children in our community."
SJRMC's Community Pediatric Physicians is located at 314 West Catalpa, Suite A, in Mishawaka.
